• Directory of Open Access Journals
  This site, maintained by Lund University Libraries, provides over 50 free online journals in the engineering and technology disciplines. Open access journals are expanding in number and quality rapidly, so frequent checks to this site may reveal new titles often. Because they are collected here by librarians with an internationally respected university, they can be considered reliable and authoritative. Access to all title is free of charge.
• Highwire Press
  A list of journals published in association with Highwire Press that have at least some full text available for free, including temporary trial access.
• Highbeam Research Library
  1.5 million free articles from 200 sources (out of a subscriber database of about 35 million articles from 3000 sources). Do a search and then select Free Articles from the Modify Search menu on the left.
• OPEN J-gate
  Open J-Gate is an electronic gateway to global journal literature in open access domain. Launched in 2006, Open J-Gate is the contribution of Informatics (India) Ltd to promote OAI. Open J-Gate provides seamless access to millions of journal articles available online. Open J-Gate is also a database of journal literature, indexed from 3000+ open access journals, with links to full text at Publisher sites.

• Catalog of U.S. Government Publications
  1976-present; The Catalog of U.S. Government Publications (CGP) indexes electronic and print publications from the legislative, executive, and judicial branches of the U.S. government. Direct links are provided to those publications that are available online.
• Library of Congress Country Studies
  A site built especially for researchers, Country Studies contains descriptions and analysis of the history, social, economic, political, national security and institutions of countries around the globe. The website includes on-line versions of books published by the Federal Research Division of the Library of Congress under the Country Studies/Area Handbook Program, sponsored by the US Department of Army. Originally, the intent of this series was to focus on lesser- known regions, so the series does not include ALL countries. Presently, 101 countries and regions are represented.

• FreeMedicalJournals.com
  A list of links to more than 1400 free medical journals, this site may be browsed by medical specialty, title, and language (English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, and others). Many medical journals will freely publish the contents of their print publications on the Internet after a defined period of time. These time frames vary from immediately to after two years.
• NLM Gateway
  This site is a handy entry point for searching the many valuable resources at the National Library of Medicine. It provides a global search function for Pubmed, Pubmed Central, and Medline Plus. Search results are divided into the following categories: bibliographic, consumer health, and other information resources. The NLM Gateway is an excellent place to begin a search of health-related government information.
• The Public Library of Science Medicine
  This online medical journal is making its articles accessible free of charge . The journal provides "health care personnel, their patients, and the citizens who have paid for much of the research with new findings from credible, peer-reviewed sources," according to Nobel Prize winner Harold Varmus, a former director of the National Institutes of Health and chairman of PloS 11-member board of directors.
• Scirus
  Scirus is a search engine devoted to science subjects. On the advanced search page, you can limit your search to articles. If you also uncheck the "All journal sources" box, you will get only web based materials, including many full text articles in institutional repositories, such as University of Toronto's T-Space.

• BEPress - Berkeley Electronic Press
  A collection of Economics, Business, Marketing, and Law journals with a scattering of political science, public affairs, science/technology, and humanities titles. NOTE: BEPress uses a "quasi-open access" model where users are required to fill out a guest form identifying their local library, which then gets subscription information. BEPress journals are searchable through ResearchNow.

  Dates vary; browse or search within selective full text from 42 metropolitan business newspapers, including The Business Journal Serving Greater Milwaukee.
• Northern Lights Business Research Engine
  The Business Research Engine is open for free to all users to browse the Market Intelligence Centers, to run searches and to access resources from the Web. A subscription is only required to read articles from premium publications and business news sources and to take advantage of advanced functionality like Search Alerts, Public Alerts and user preferences.

  Dates vary; provides access to 1,400 bibliographies of literature in computer science. The collection contains more than 1.4 million references to journal articles, conference papers, and technical reports; many records include abstracts and links to full-text documents; updated monthly.
• Information Bridge
  1995-present; over 58,000 full-text Department of Energy research and development reports. Reports included in the database cover a wide variety of subjects in the sciences, including physics, chemistry, materials, biology, environmental sciences, energy technologies, engineering, computer and information science, and renewable energy.
